How The Law Of Attraction Worked In My Life

July 22, 2010 by · 6 Comments

Three years ago, in July 2007, I bought the audio CD of The Secret. Back then, I was spending 40 minutes one way to commute, and I thought the inspirational CD is something I could utilize — I didn’t have much time for reading.

That was my introduction to the Law of Attraction. Eventually, I read more on the subject and contemplated on my own. I wrote down my intentions and collected photos that represented my dreams because I read that is the way we use the LoA.

I just found that writing and am seriously impressed. Even though my understanding of the LoA was elementary, most of my intentions have come true, except some that proved unimportant.

I thought it would be fun to share this…

My living environment

Let’s start with the living environment because the intention was most specific with this.

Below is my intention statement, with my note in ( ). The green part are the ones that have materialized.

I am happily living in a nice new townhouse. (I found a nice townhouse to rent last fall. It is not brand new, but new enough and maintained well.) It is 1200 sq ft, 2 bedroom, 1.5 bathrooms with a good-size garage, in a safe and quiet area. (Safe it is — some people don’t even lock the door here! It’s 1000 sq ft — plenty of space for me, and 2 BR 2BA, with a garage.) It is in a gated community on midhill. (At the time of writing, I was thinking of buying a condo. I now realize I don’t like home ownership — too much work! My current resident doesn’t have security gates, but it doesn’t matter because it’s so safe here. It is on midhill that commands a fantastic view!) It’s landscaped beautifully — I see lavenders around the house. (The lavender is a minor but surprising match. The community is very well landscaped and they come for care weekly.) The building wall is stone and the door is maroon.

When I enter the house, I can see the light in the windows. (In addition to regular windows, it has a skylight.) The living room has a mantle and there are my beloved kickknacks. There are artworks on the wall. (I’ve been too lazy to hang up my own artwork.) The kitchen has a granite countertop — smooth and cool. (The counter, which is very large, is tiled.) Also it has track lighting, flattop cooking oven, and real exhaust. (All the lights are recessed — nice enough for me. The cooktop is not the real smoothtop, which is electrical, but it’s a gas burner on a very flat surface that is easy to clean — none of those dish-like stuffs.)

In the bedroom, I see a large, comfy bed, antique tansu chest, and there is a walk-in closet. (I bought a natural bed last Christmas. The mattress is made of organic latex, cotton and wool. The frame is beautiful natural wood. And I myself chose smaller mattress. Also, even though the closet is not walk-in, they are two large closets facing each other, so I made it a dressing area by hanging a light drapery. Close enough for me.)

In the bathroom, I see natural light, clean large vanity, beautiful tub where I can enjoy fragrant bubble bath. (It’s standard bathroom, but I do take the time to bathe a couple times a week these days.) My office room is well organized. (Since I started using a laptop, I don’t need an “office room” any more. I use the extra bedroom as storage.) I feel the joy, peace, and clean energy in the house. I look out and see greens. (Not only I can see lush greens on this hill, I can see the distant mountains among them.) I can walk to the fitness center. (No fitness center, but walking around on the slopes is very good exercise.)

I moved twice since I wrote the intention, first from Tennessee to Portland, Oregon, suburb, and then to Eugene. Neither was planned at the time of writing. My current home is so much like my dream residence it almost scares me. I even got some bonus points that I forgot to write down — such as the large deck, the skylight, and the great view.

The points I missed are insignificant. I don’t really care the door is green, rather than maroon, nor that I don’t own a tansu chest. I think I pushed myself to write up a gorgeous, impressive intention — many Law of Attraction books tell us to do that. So I included some of the things that I THOUGHT I wanted — well, I guess I didn’t want them, really. I feel happy and comfortable the way it turned out.

My work

When I wrote the intentions, I was doing the regular 8 to 5, so my intention in this area was more about my “dream” and lacks specificity.

By 2010, my business is making $150K a year. I do:

  • intuitive reading (I offer Akashic Record Reading)
  • life coaching (I offer Spirit Guides Coaching)
  • blogging
  • publish books
  • inspirational speeches

People and money come easily to me. (Not sure how to evaluate this point . . . I am not short on money but also not swimming in money. Same with people. I guess I could wish for more, but I am not lonely, either.) My business is thriving with many happy clients. They send me more clients to me. I am excited to get to know people who live with passion and sense of humor. (Referral is a significant source of my clients.)

I have all the time I need because I receive large passive income from my investments. I am happily donating 10% of profit to charities.

(Comes with a photo of a classy woman — nice dress and fancy jewelry watch. She is all silver hair — I probably chose her because she wasn’t the 20-something chirpy type.)

I quit my job in October that year and started my own service, Akashic Record Reading, the following year. Again, it was not planned out at the time of writing the intentions.

I have completed the manuscript of my book on the Akashic Records and Ascension, but have not found the publisher. And I think I might want to rewrite some part of it. So publicity is still not quite at my intention level, nor my income level. At the same time, I am not worried about money. (And this is only midyear of 2010 — some miracles can happen before the end of the year, you know :) )

The passive income thing is another influence of the books I was reading back then. Many get-rich books teach the benefits of passive income from rental real estates and stock investments. I am not on that path now. However, I have the time and the freedom to use my time as I see fit every day because I work for myself. So I can say I have achieved the “time wealth” I wanted — which, for me, is even more critical than financial wealth.

And I am looking at the photo of the beautiful woman. I don’t have that kind of dress nor the watch but I am okay with that. And I’d love to see my few strands of gray go dark again rather than having gorgeous silver hair, which I think may be possible with good nutrition and healthy lifestyle.

Others

There were other intentions such as traveling to Europe and attending the workshop of the inspirational writer I liked back then. I am now totally uninterested in them. Oh, and I wanted light green Toyota Prius. Well, maybe next time I trade, I will choose that, but for now, my Civic is running just fine and I am happy with it. In this small town of Eugene, I don’t drive so much any way.

Write down your intentions

I think writing down is a very effective way to influence the subconscious. I wasn’t 100% convinced of the Law of Attraction three years ago, but it still worked! So try it for yourself.

When you write your intentions, be as specific as you can. This way, you will clearly know when your intention manifests. And it also helps you to realize what is not really important to you. For example, I can now see “$150K annual income” was not really my dream but something I adopted. If I didn’t put a number on it, however, I may not have noticed how far off the intention was from the way of life I really aspired.

(My current intention for my finance and beyond, in terms of abundance, is that all I need flows to me easily and naturally. I do understand I need to cover my expenses, but I don’t see the point of having a large chunk of money.)

So it’s okay to make this kind of errors. Do write down, stash it somewhere and be pleasantly surprised later! You may even get some nice bonuses.

Creating Your Life And The New World

“The day will come when, after harnessing space, the winds, the tides and gravitation, we shall harness for God the energy of love. And on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, we shall have discovered fire.”
– Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

This is the last installment of the Creating The New World series. Ascension presents us the unprecedented opportunity for change, and we’ve been discussing how we can create the New World based on the following five energy flows:

Love
Light
Truth
Abundance
Power

The purpose of life

While each post has some suggestions to help you better align with each of the energy flow, which will improve your personal life, the scope of the series is beyond the conventional personal development. Some of you may have thought, “Well, this all sounds nice, I wish there will be a day when this New World manifests, but I’m just an ordinary person and there is nothing I can do to help this dream come true.”

I respectfully disagree. We are born with the power to create. Creation is the purpose of life: we incarnated in this physical world to have fun creating our lives, to experience our own creation and learn through the experiences, then we create even better things, so we experience the love and abundance in a tangible way. Life is about creation.

Each of us has this power to create, and together we create the world. When you bring a positive change to your life, you are changing the world. The point is to create consciously.

The process of creation

Creation starts in the invisible energy field, the spiritual world, and manifests in the physical world. And in tern, by creating in the physical world, we transcend to the spiritual world. The physical and the spiritual are not opposed to each other. They are the two sides, or levels, of the one Universe.

This is the essence of the Law of Attraction. We create as we think, feel, and believe. The Law of Attraction is there so we can learn from our own creation. (If things happen randomly, we can’t learn, right?) Whether you are aware of your creative power or not, you are creating anyway.

What I’ve strived to achieve in this series is to present the big picture of the New World, the vision of our destination of our current creative journey. I don’t know the exact each step to get to this destination — that probably depends on each of your case, and I also think someone who is more detail-oriented and technical in thinking can do a better job in determining the steps than I can. But what are we to do when we know how to walk but don’t know the direction to our destination? My job is to present this sense of direction.

It’s you, however, who creates your life, and thus contribute to the New World from your end. I hope I have inspired you to the point you embrace your creative power.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?  You are a child of God.  Your playing small does not serve the world.  There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.  We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.  And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
– Marianne Williamson

The New World in a nutshell

The New World is based on individuals as empowered and awakened free agent. Each of us will live as the person we truly are — in other words, we all “come out” for the authentic and unique person we are. No need to bend our truth to conform to the social norms because there will be no social norms. Our inner sense of honesty and integrity will develop to the point that social rules will be unnecessary.

The New World is filled with love. Again it’s the kind of love that celebrates the unique quality each of us present, not the love based on manipulation.

So the New World celebrates diversity. I don’t just mean the diversity of races, ethnicities, and such. I mean diversity in ways of life and ideas. For instance, all forms of love, whether it is heterosexual or homosexual, monogamy or polyamory, across the races and ethnicities . . . they are all good.

The New World is both simple and abundant. We will live simply because we know we are spiritual beings enjoying the stay in this physical world, so we don’t need to decorate ourselves excessively. It is also abundant in the same way Nature is abundant, because we fully utilize our creative power.

There will be many fundamental changes in the way we live in the New World. Breakthroughs will change the way we sustain our physical bodies, and there will be few, or no, health issues. Some (or many) of us will be living as lightbodies.

The concept of work and money will change, too. Most of us will be working for ourselves, doing what we love and are good at. Work is a way of self-expression, a way of creation. Eventually, work will be purely about self-expression, not a way to earn money, so we will just give and receive the products and services, not trading them for money. The New World will be that abundant, to the point we don’t need to keep track of numbers.

The One Energy

On the deeper level, the five energies are one. Love and Light are the same — Love is Light, and Light is Love. When Eckhart Tolle wrote in the introduction of The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment that the morning sunlight through the drapery, after his night of revelation, was pure love, he literally means it.

And when there is nothing but loving light, there is nothing that is not Truth. This light of love is also power, and is abundance. It’s all . . . life energy.

But then, on the practical level, it helps us to check our alignment with each energy flow of Love, Light, Truth, Abundance, and Power.

We as God the Creator

As I wrote in the part on Light, we, each one of us, are ultimately God. We have the same creative power God has.

It is only an illusion that we need to compete, control, manipulate, etc to get good things in life. When we use the energy negative like this, we create imbalance, and sooner or later, we will have to pay. Creating with love is a lot easier and fulfilling.

Thank you for reading this post and the Creating The New World series. Now it’s your turn. What do you think about my vision of the New World? Do you want to add or change something? Do you have any questions about the energy flows of Love, Light, Truth, Abundance, and Power?   (Photo by carf)

Review: Living The Law Of Attraction

November 17, 2008 by · 15 Comments

De-mystifying the Law of Attraction

I can hardly believe there are still people in this 21st century who don’t use the Law of Attraction. Is it that scary to have your dreams come true? Does it frighten you to realize you have the power to create? Are you so narrow-minded to accept what you don’t completely understand?

Living the Law of Attraction: Real Stories of People Manifesting Health, Wealth, and Happiness is an anthology of real life stories written by “ordinary” people who dared to embrace this approach to life and got super results. 62 of them. Seeing (results) is believing.

There is this guy who lost his investment business due to the dot com crash and manifested his dream business as spiritual teacher instead. Another guy received equal custody of his child when the male parent’s right was not well established, especially in unmarried relationship. Another raked in deals totaling $20 million in six months, big accomplishment even for a real estate guy.

As an immigrant myself, I felt for the guy who wanted to immigrate to the US. He was first conned by immigration “agency” and lost his life saving. From there, he used visualization and affirmations and in two years, legally moved his family from South Africa to America.

Then there are people who gained better health, like my friend Jenny Mannion, whose story is in this book. I also like stories like manifesting flowers or surprise presents . . . small things that nonetheless make us so happy.

You can learn to utilize the Law of Attraction

Reading these stories is a great way to learn how really you can utilize the Law of Attraction. Some uses vision board. Some pray. Some are so confident in their own power to manifest that they just start looking for what they want.

But in case you want more clearly defined instruction on how to utilize the Law of Attraction, the book suggests the following steps (the notes under each step is my own interpretation):

Step 1: Feel Good
You need to be feeling good if you want to attract good things. When you are in negativity, you are attracting the lack of what you want. So start your day with gratitude. Meditate. Exercise. These are solid ways to raise your mood – your vibration.

People who mistrust the Law of Attraction seem to have trouble right here. They prefer to stay in their cynical, smart-ass little hole and say something like, “Oh, the Law of Attraction, that’s for stupid people. Look, life is tough. Anyone smarter than Pollyanna knows this. And they insist of feeling good and having positive thoughts.”

Well, you don’t have to feel good if you don’t want to create happiness. That is totally your choice, and I respect that. If, however, you want to create some positive outcomes in your life, you do need to figure out how to feel good. And the good news is that this is a learnable skill.

Step 2: Set Forth the Intention
Don’t expect the Universe or your spirit guides to read your mind. Be clear and specific about your intention. And dare to dream big.

Step 3: Take Inspired Action
“You can’t spell attraction without action!”

This is another point of big misunderstanding. On one end of the spectrum, there are people who think their dreams just gets done by the genie with zero involvement of their own. On the other side of the spectrum, there are people who can’t tell the difference between inspired action and any action, and runs around like crazy doing, doing, and doing more.

Both are mistaken. You do need to take action because you are the one with the physical body and therefore can move move things around. The Universe or the spirit guides can bring opportunities but you need to go get it. This, however, doesn’t mean any action brings results. You need to take inspired actions.

How do you know what your inspired actions are? Well, when you are tuned in, you will know – it is inspiring.

Step 4: Release the “How”
How is not your job. The Universe takes care of it. Your job is, again, to take inspired actions.

Step 5: Be a”Yes” to Life
Have faith that it is working. Your life is working even when it may not look so to you. So stay positive.

Step 6: The Intention Manifests

Why the Law of Attraction works

As you can see, it takes faith to work the Law of Attraction. You need to set your intention regardless of your current situation. You need to take inspired actions – whether you can comprehend its meaning or not. And you need to stay in that positive mode. In short, you need to work from inside out, to live as a conscious being with intention, paying less attention to superficial ebbs and flows of outside world.

And that is the hint of why the Law of Attraction works. As Dr. Brian Weiss pointed out, we are souls incarnated in the physical body. Our souls incarnated with purpose. While each of us have our own unique purpose and lessons, there is also a big purpose that all souls live by, and that is to experience love, joy, and abundance in the substantial way in this physical world.

This is my current understanding: When we were the Source, the pure energy itself, we were love, joy and abundance. There was no lack, nothing that was not love, joy, abundance. This was wonderful, but we also wanted to try out something different. So we created this physical world, in which, by its very nature of being physical, things are distributed unevenly. I don’t just mean the social inequality – even in nature, there are unevenness.

There are mountains, oceans, farmlands, cities. Then there are barren lands. We might plant trees in the areas that have been long neglected, which is an act of love, and thus witness the abundance of this world. This brings joy.

The illusion of individuality in the physical world

While we are incarnated as physical beings, we have the illusion of separate individuals. This may cause us to fight, to exploit others, or to feel jealous, angry, and depressed. So there are opportunities we come back to love, joy and true abundance.

In this physical world, we can learn love, joy and abundance in a way that is not possible as the complete, perfect, pure energy we were. (And in fact, we still are the Source in essence.) To make sure this happens, the Divinity has designed a system. And this system is the Law of Attraction. We think of something we want, we desire and intend, and we attract it. We play out the rags to riches story. Or we can steer to negativity, which will bring negative things and events, letting us know something is wrong.

The question, then, is: Are you using the Law of Attraction to learn love, joy and abundance?

How the Law of Attraction is working for ME

A while ago, I decided to attract publicity. My Akashic Record Reading service is growing and, while more and more orders are certainly nice, I thought publicity would be even nicer at this young stage of my business development.

Last Friday, I found that the article I contributed to Pick The Brain went on to The Huffington Post. Pretty cool. I think this may be the beginning of my great publicity. (Just in case you may not be familiar – The Huffington Post is the world’s largest news blog site.)

Join us in the Intention Game

I will be starting the new Intention Game on my Gratitude Friday series (next edition is due Friday next week). Join us and see what happens!

Update: I’m renaming my Gratitude Friday to Online Gratitude Journal. It is biweekly now, so I think this fits better.
