How To Release Negativity

July 19, 2010 by Akemi · 10 Comments

I’ve been receiving questions about how to release negativity / negative thoughts and feelings. It’s an important issue, a critical issue, I might say. And surely I know a lot of approaches — ho’oponopono, EFT, physical detox, space clearing, to name just a few — besides my own speciality, Akashic Record Reading and its clearing. Perhaps I will write about them after this article.

But before I do that, I need to address something fundamental. When I hear people talk about negativity, there is something that bothers me. They go like, “I want to release the negativity in me that is still there. I hate these negative thoughts and feelings. They are not really about me and I’ve tried and tried to get rid of them, and they are still there — how nasty! Do you know any good methods?”

Well, it’s not like getting rid of roaches. . .

Healing your inner negativity

If this is how you think, here are two points we want to cover before discussing the various methods:

  1. The “negativity” is part of you. You cannot just get rid of it. Instead, you want to heal it.
  2. To judge something as “positive” or “negative” is based on illusion, the illusion of duality, that separates and alienates us. Ultimately, we want to release this judgment to be whole.

About point #1. Let’s say you have a very painful memory and you feel overwhelmingly angry and sad when you recall it. On the intellectual level, you know it is history and you don’t need to be upset now. You may even wish to forgive the offender. But the memory is disturbing nonetheless. You feel split and part of you is . . . still angry.

Do you think you can get rid of the memory? Or the “negative” emotions? Or the upsetting thoughts you have about this?

No. You own them. As long as you attempt to get rid of them, they stay there. They may even grow bigger.

Because what these “negativities” are doing is to ask you to heal them.

Your “negative” part is the part of you that seeks to be healed with love and light. Your negativity will keep seeking assistance until it is healed. So let’s pay attention.

All the approaches (like the ones I mentioned earlier, and I am sure there are other good ones) work only when you understand this, I think.

Analogically, it’s like healing your sore throat that is affected with virus. Your throat may hurt badly, but there is no point in hating your throat. (I know … in the past, some doctors were in this thinking and took away the tonsils…) You want to heal the throat and when you do, the virus are gone.

  • If someone has mistreated you, check if you treat yourself the same way.
  • How does your mistreated part want to be treated?
  • What kind of awareness (= light) do you need to heal this negativity?

What is “negativity” anyway?

And I am seriously concerned about the whole discussion of positive and negative. As you guys know, I am a linguist by training. What do you really mean by “negativity”?

When an electric current is flowing one way or the other, we call one positive and the other negative. This is not about values — it’s about the relative direction of the current. And I have defined what I mean by “negative souls” — it is not about value judgment whether a person is good or bad, it’s how the soul is evolving.

When people use the word “negative”, however, it seems most of them don’t really know what they mean. Usually they seem to mean something they don’t like. Something that makes them uncomfortable. Something they’d rather avoid.

I’m not saying certain feelings and thoughts aren’t counterproductive. For example, anger that is not addressed properly can be volatile and may lead you to a destructive situation. So we want to pay attention to heal the angry part of you.

But please use the word “negative” with some thoughts. We don’t want to throw everything you don’t like into this blanket statement. Some things that you don’t like now may be good for you — that is called growth opportunities.

Healing our judgement

Ultimately, there is no positive and negative. It’s the way we see things and judge.

When you finally heal the part of you that is yelling for attention, you will be happy that you did, and you also will appreciate there was a signal that called for attention. Your “negativity” is like a smoke detector. Is hearing your smoke detector “negative”? Isn’t it really bad if it didn’t go off when there was a fire?

A smoke detector is … just a smoke detector. It does certain things when a certain situation happens. It’s not negative nor positive.

I guess what I’m trying to say is not to be too carried away in your judgment. Your judgment (and we are all so well-trained to make judgments) is just a judgment and not the truth. Or, you can think it this way — when you heal the part of you that is calling for attention, you turn your “negative” to positive.

So let me ask you — how many times did you use the word “negative” today? Did you know what you meant each time you said it? Do you see the bigger picture of the situation, where nothing is positive nor negative?

And are you ready to heal the part within you that is asking for attention? Or do you still hate it? (Photo credit)

How To Deal With Negative Souls

June 24, 2010 by Akemi · 21 Comments

I’m not so excited to write about negative souls, or darkworkers. Even though I try to be informative and non-judgmental when I write about them, I receive considerable backlash anyway. And still, it’s a fact at this time of our evolution that there are negative souls, so I think it’s to our benefit to learn how to deal with them.

Who negative souls are

Positive souls evolve toward the Light and receive the vital life energy from the Light Source, which is the only authentic Source of energy, the Source that has brought forth all beings in this universe. (By the way, some people call this Source “God”. That is fine, but right now, let’s not go in there and all the discussions like if there is only one god and what his or her name may be, etc.)

By definition, negative souls have refused to evolve toward the Light at some point. Which immediately put them in energy supply problem. Because they are not evolving toward Light, they do not receive the vital life energy from the Light Source and so they have to scout the energy somewhere else, usually from the people around them.

Because of this, quite a few people have asked me if negative souls / darkworkers are the same with “energy vampires”. Well, not quite. Even positive souls suck up other people’s energy from time to time while some negative souls do it so tactfully you hardly ever feel it.

How to tell if someone is a negative soul

I’ve seen articles that list the telltale signs of energy vampires. Like someone who is always in the drama. Or someone who makes “negative” comments or harbors “negative” feelings. Or someone who tend to be a loner. And so forth.

For me, this kind of checklist means nothing. If a negative soul is so easy to find, like with a simple checklist, life is a piece of cake. Only a really dumb person gets sucked up in that case, right?

I guess I am pretty sensitive energetically, yet I don’t always notice negative souls in my life until I come “very close”. Even then, I only sense something strangely sticky, that’s all. (Of course, if I am reading their Akashic Records, then I’d know for sure.) And the person in front of me may be a model citizen with many friends.

Another way to look at negative souls

Mrs. Jones was listening to the local radio and heard there was a car driving the wrong side of the freeway, make it extremely dangerous. She was so concerned that she called her husband on his cell phone. He said, “It’s not just one car. Everyone is driving against me.”

So, for now, let’s forget about how negative souls may appear. One way to think of negative souls is the joke above.

With driving, it’s obvious when a car is on the wrong side of the road. Plus there are policemen enforcing the law. With souls and energy flows, it’s not so obvious, however. For one thing, there are a solid number of souls going against the authentic flow (perhaps 10 to 15% of the population), so negative souls can form their peer groups to justify their way of living and to feel okay with themselves.

And we are talking about invisible energy flows. It’s quite possible that negative souls themselves don’t know what may be wrong. All they feel is, for some strange reason, there are so many others who are flowing against themselves.

(If you think you know so many “negative souls” in your life, you might want to stop and think here.)

How negative souls cope with life

So being a negative soul is tough. Because of the nagging discomfort they feel at the core, plenty of negative souls make sincere efforts to improve their lives. Some are devoted to charities and other social movements. Some are into healing. It seems to me that they would try everything except the very basic simple thing — to have an honest relationship with the Source and other human beings.

Again, they may have good social life with many friends. Or they may be loners after all. Even though these two types may appear to be opposite types, they are just two ways to cope with the overall sense that “there are many souls flowing against me.” I have the feeling that negative souls are fundamentally lonely even with an impressive circle of friends.

How to deal with the negative souls

My interest in this article is not about identifying negative souls. It’s about how to live with them. We can do this without worrying about who may be negative souls because the way we best deal with negative souls is the way we best deal with anyone.

Love.

Wait, not that fuzzy, mushy love. I’m talking about the fundamental love.

It doesn’t mean we yield to the demands and manipulations of the negative souls. It means we act in our highest path and purpose, regardless of who we may be dealing with.

It doesn’t mean we save others out of the consequences of their acts and their feelings. Let them feel their feelings, negative or whatever. That some feelings are “negative” is only in our judgment. Let them have the consequences while we stand where we are, not away from them, not with them, either.

Let them be who they are. Let them see who they are.

No judgments, no need to change them. Let’s accept that our current evolution is such that we still have them. They are reminders to overall human evolution.

Ironically, this may prompt them to change. Maybe. But again, we cannot force them to change. It’s up to them.

The shield of Love

The point is not them. It’s me. It’s me in the energy of Love. When I am, I see you are me. This condition, surrounded with the light of love, is completely incomprehensible to negative souls. (Heck, it’s only partially comprehensible for me, too, but my spirit guides tell me to wrote this down)

In order for the negative souls to take energy from you, they need to place an energetic hook on your heart chakra. Once this connection is established, they can take energy from you whether you are in their proximity or not.

When you are in the light of love, I don’t think negative souls can even attempt to place the hook on you. So you are safe. Without doing any defensive work.

In conclusion, I acknowledge that my motivation to write this article was not entirely selfless. If more positive souls quit providing energy to negative souls and let them see themselves as they are, it may prompt them to come back to Light. (We can never make them so, we can only do our part that may prompt them to change.)  And less cars driving the wrong direction means safer and more pleasant driving for everyone, including myself.
