Law Of Attraction, Million Dollar Check, And Business Growth

Do you want to attract $1M check?

Really? Are you really comfortable to have that chunk of money out of nowhere?

I’d rather have steady business growth. Sorry, I don’t mean to be boring, but it’s my real feeling.

This article examines why I think some people mistrust the Law of Attraction. They say the Law of Attraction doesn’t work because they haven’t been able to attract what they want, such as a lot of money. Well, the LOA has, and is, working for me, and I would like to help you use it well for your growth as a person and as an entrepreneur.

The disasters of winning the lottery

First, let’s see what happens when you actually get huge amount of money all of a sudden, like by winning a lottery. Various studies have been published about this topic (like this and this). According to these studies, many lottery winners lose friends and eventually move to another state to start over. They lose the money they won (and some more) sooner or later and often file for bankruptcy. Some are physically attacked by their relatives or practically kill themselves with tons of drinks or drugs.

It is horrible to receive the amount of money that is not in your current comfort zone, the kind of money you don’t know how to handle. Luckily, God (or Universe or whatever you want to call) spare us this kind of disasters most of the time.

Further, healthy conscious people don’t go after this kind of out-of-the-context wishes. As I stated in the beginning, I’m really not comfortable with this kind of money and would not use the Law of Attraction to get it.

My current comfort zone of money is up to five digits. Six digit money makes me nervous, and seven digit is hard to image. So I use the Law of Attraction within this comfort zone while working on expanding my comfort zone. Check my new project here how I am working to expand my money consciousness.

The scarcity thought behind the million dollar check

When we really question ourselves why we want the big fat check, we notice it is based on fear. We are afraid we would never make enough money to pay off debt and buy the things we want. We are afraid something bad that would cause financial havoc happen. We are afraid we may not be “good enough” without the money and what money can buy. . .

There are two problems with this fear, the fear based on scarcity thoughts. One, we end up attracting scarcity. We may think we want money, badly for that matter, but our real message is the belief in scarcity so that is what we attract. (And people blame the Law of Attraction for not working for them, when in fact it is working perfectly.) Two, well, it’s just not the natural way of the Universe, so we drift away from the Creator.

The Universe doesn’t understand scarcity thoughts. What I see in the nature is that the Universe provides steadily in a flow. There are fluctuations, yes. But it doesn’t work in a way like “Okay, let’s provide plenty of rain at a time to last for the next 10 years.” No, it seems the Universe provides in each given moment and it doesn’t ensure things into the future.

If you are an investor, think of it this way – which is better, capital gain or dividend income? Both would be nice, and there are times we need to go for capital gain to raise funds, but between the two, the steady ongoing flow of dividends is better, isn’t it? We want to create income flow of dividends. Asking for the big check and to be done with the financial efforts is analogous to going for one-time capital gain alone.

How to attract money

In order to utilize the Law of Attraction well, to attract the money rather than the lack of it, we need to base our thoughts on abundance. I have plenty and there are plenty more out there for me and for everyone. No need for the million dollar check to ensure financial bliss (which it won’t anyway). Further, I use the Law of Attraction in a way I can handle.

So I want my business to grow. I help people coaching and doing Akashic Record Reading, and I get paid. Money goes to saving and investment accounts, and they grow. . And I want my business to grow at a manageable pace. These are meaningful and abundance based wishes.

Additional thoughts on the Law of Attraction

When I talked about the Law of Attraction in this article, Tom reminded us that too many people seem to be using the Law of Attraction for monetary gains. Why not use it for world peace? I think it is perfectly okay to use it for money, and it is also good to use for other things. Just be sure it is something about you. The Law of Attraction works through each person’s thoughts and feelings. For instance, I can work on peace in my life, and I hope that will expand to bigger context, but I can’t think and feel as a representative of the “world” to attract world peace.

There is also a myth about the Law of Attraction that all you have to do is to think, feel, maybe visualize. No, you need to take inspired actions – most of the time. The gift may or may not come as a direct result of the action, however, and this is the magic of the Law of Attraction.

Also a myth – or some kind of confusion – is the name “Law of Attraction.” Words have only so much meaning as we give. I’m using the term “Law of Attraction” because it is how we most often call it. Call it for something else if you have issue with the term. The energetic working doesn’t care how it’s called. Nor does it care how it is marketed.

Finally, there are people – quite many actually – who are not in charge of their own thoughts and feelings. I see them all the time in my Akashic Record Reading service. Of course, you think what you are thinking and feeling are your own thoughts and feelings, but if you observe carefully, you might notice some thoughts and feelings are out of the stream of thoughts and feelings of your own. Because the Law of Attraction works with one’s thoughts and feelings, this condition brings haphazard results.

I feel for these people (this is why I do the Akashic Record Reading service) but at the same time, I must say please don’t blame the Law of Attraction for attracting mixed results. It’s working – it’s just not working the way you want it to work.

Akemi, you’re absolutely correct about inspired action. The main difference between a goal versus a wish is the action and I can see why LOA has been getting all the bad name… people thought all they’ve to do is to look at the 1million imaginary check and **poof** there comes the money. Silly really.

    Cheers,
    Ellesse

Wow this really is insightful stuff. I do in fact always look at money as one big check. I have got to think that looking at everyday as bringing a stronger business would be much better.

    Ellesse,
Haha. . . thanks for that comment!

    IBB,
Yep, that is a sneaky caveat. Behind it, there is the common resentment about money, I think. If we secretly but firmly think money is dirty, we’d want to get it over with once and for all, right? Real comfort with money is critical here.

Because the Law of Attraction works so perfectly (kind of like gravity!), we also have the opportunity to use it another way. We can look at what we’re attracting, which then informs us about the kinds of thoughts, emotions and energies we are putting out into the world. If we want to change what we’re attracting on the outside, we have to start by changing our interior landscape.

The whole system is designed, after all, as a kind of “school” where we can learn through choice and consequence. Each emotion, thought, belief, etc. is a choice that brings consequences. The LoA is an essential aspect of the perfect feedback system that informs us of the quality of our choices.

    Blessings,
    Andrea

    Andrea,
Thank you for pointing out the divine intention behind the Law of Attraction. I am grateful for being in this “school”.

Hi Akemi – I’ve also read so many stories about folk winning the lottery then losing it all. It’s very sad.

You’ve explained the Law of Attraction very well. I think “The Secret” book and DVD simplified it way too much and made many people believe that all they had to do was think and visualise.

  8. akemi on June 25th, 2008 2:27 pm

    MMND,
Thanks. So I love comments — it helps me think better. . .

    Cath,
As much as I like “The Secret” (CD, I haven’t seen the DVD), there are some areas that allowed criticism. The selection of “experts” was not very good, either. But that doesn’t invalidate the working of the law. Criticizing the LoA by the way the book was written or how some teachers are behaving is like criticizing the law of gravity by the way a science book is written. Even if someone who utilizes the law of gravity commits a crime, that is not the gravity’s fault.

    Hi Akemi,

I think that Allowing is the key to LOA. The better I get at allowing my beautiful life to unfold, the more I manifest. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that we deserve every happiness and sometimes we need to ask the universe for evidence. I love Michael Losier’s book on LOA. He has written a practical and easy way to implement LOA. Check it out at Law of Attraction Book dot com.

Thank you, Akemi, for posting this article. There have been far too many things that are happening in my life and that cannot be explained. These all began with putting in my intention.

Like you, I did not ask for the million dollar check but am also working to expand my wealth consciousness. I already have more money and abundance than I need at this stage. However, I have no intention of making a copy of my bank statement and publishing it just to prove that the LOA is working.

I’m also all for manifesting for world peace! We need more of us to be positive rather than be negative about this!

    With thanks and appreciation,
    Evelyn

    Shann,
Yes, allowing — to be 100% open and in line with what we want — is critical.

    Evelyn,
Good for you that LoA is working well. Yep, money is only part of the deal — abundance is a lot more than wealth, and there are a lot of other qualities we seek in life!

  12. Tom Volkar / Delightful Work on June 26th, 2008 10:29 am

It’s hard for me to understand what all the fuss is about with these folks who knock attraction-based thinking. I challenged one this morning after she told me she didn’t buy this statement. I simply told her that her thoughts and feelings had a major influence on the quality of life she experiences. I said okay fair enough, if you don’t buy that what do you believe? The best she could come up with was this. We get what we want through hard work. If that were the way it worked then those who worked the hardest would have the easiest and more abundant lives. They obviously do not. Keep picking these controversial topics Akemi; you do well with them.

    Tom,
Haha. . . I don’t intend to pick a fight or be controversial. I understand we all have free will and choosing not to utilize the LoA can certainly be their choice. I mean, the LoA is working anyway, but people are allowed to mistrust and use it to manifest what they don’t want. . .
“No sweat, no gain” is a common misleading belief in the collective consciousness. Tell me about it . . . I use to believe in it too ^_^

    Hi Akemi,

I really like this realistic, grounded way of using the Law of Attraction. Personally I find this works best for me too. Getting all giddy and wishful without knowing what I’m truly comfortable with just doesn’t work.

I agree with Cath that “The Secret” DVD has over-simplified things, but I do feel also that it was effective in seeding the concept of LoA. We just need to “fine tune” our understanding as we go along.

Excellent post Akemi … thanks for sharing. :)

I want to win a million dollars, because being poor is not living. You never have enough and yur stress level is extremly high.As far as your family and friends-if they have a problem with you having money ,they had a problem with you all the time ,before you won millions. Thats just like saying if you have millions from investments or a great bussiness these things will happen sorry (bull)If you turn into a drug addict or drunk its a good chance before your life was over that is what you would have chosen to be.Money = freedom and yes I would love to win the lottery and I have worked hard my entire life and winning the lottery would be a blessing!
