I think one of the reasons I enjoyed your youtube video so much – besides the lovely messages – was because I got to hear YOU. It made the message all the more poignant.

Awhile back, I did a radio interview and had the link posted on my site for quite some time. You wouldn't believe the emails that generated, all to the tune of, "Loved hearing your voice! You speak just like you write." LOL

Even though I was named after both of my grandmothers, I have a rather unique name (in this country anyway). When I was little, I hated my name. It was different. Everyone mispronounced it. There were no stickers bearing my name or little license plates for my bicycle, like the other kids had.

So, I changed it. Just announced one day – I think I was about seven – "From now on, my name is Teri."

It wasn't until I was about 25 or so that I finally decided I like my name. Being different is okay. In fact, it's kinda cool that a million other folks aren't walking around called Teres (rhymes with Paris).

Thanks for the link love, Akemi. I'm glad the article on body issues spoke so strongly to you.

Jack,

Yes! Laughter can be very healing. When we can laugh at ourselves, not in a cynical way but in a warm way, we are healing ourselves.

Tom,

Thanks. Uniqueness is good :)
