I believe that people will stick to their beliefs even if they are faced with overwhelming facts that point to the contrary, as long as a large percentage of the population still believes what they believe. Which is obviously why it's so hard to get most people to take the initiative to change their lives in the slightest way that would better the world. In essence, we stick to what we know. People don't like to do something unless they have actually seen it work.

I believe that this world won't know peace until people stop believing in religion. I grew up without being taught about a god, and when I came to the age where I could think for myself, it was a ridiculous notion that anyone would believe in such a thing. I think that most people only believe in religion because it's like a drug, it's what keeps them happy anf fulfills their life.

It's the same with a drug addict, trying to get them off drugs is near impossible for most. A person can be negatively effecting their environment, the people around them, their society, and not care about it enough because the drug outweighs all of those issues with it's blinding love.

I feel the same way about religion, people don't realize or care enough about all of the harm that comes from believing in a god, and how it splits all of us up and divides us. Most people have enough difficulty in dealing with their daily life and how they are to keep from going insane.

I think that the turning point will happen soon, when people start organizing sanctuaries similar to churches, but leave god out of the equation. We need to start teaching our children to respect each other for who they are as a human, not based on their beliefs, what they look like, etc. Basically, we need more ways of imbuing tolerance in kids as they are being brought up. It's okay to not like someone, but it's how we deal with it that is the big issue.

I intend to write some music, make some videos as I am a student of 3-d animation currently, and try to reach out to people on a large scale, giving confidence that it is alright to think for yourself. I think that there are so many people on the tipping point, ready to be a leader, but are still subdued by social behaviors of others and media. It's so much easier to not speak out than to speak out.

I hope that 2012 comes and passes, and maybe people will realize how silly they are about believing in some of the things they believe in. We are so young as a race, in our infancy in the broader scheme of things. We would like to think we have the world figured out pretty well, but there is so much more to learn. We need to start challenging people to think about the future, in schools, on the internet, and hopefully when I get enough money I will start building places for children to go and have fun similar to church youth groups, but with a bigger emphasis on embracing humanity.

I think the change will be much like you said about the computers and internet. Maybe in ten years we will look back and just laugh at how crazy we are right now. I think it does take some sort of drastic event though to catalyze the change. I have many possible ideas, and I'm sure many more do too. I think with the advent of the internet, society has already made a huge leap forward towards understanding how others think. We just need to give a little more of a push.

I wrote about the non-essential nature of monetary system in my eBook, Lightworkers' Guide to Self-Employment (free download), if you are interested more. :)

"I’m envisioning even the end of monetary system" ...

Funny, I wrote an essay about the absurdity of the monetary system, and how it is (now) slowing evolution to a crawl. And I even started the foundation of a book developing the subject even more.

Nice post! :D
