8245 Lightworkers Can Change The World

December 14, 2009 by Akemi

change the world
“Akemi, you write about creating the New World of love, light, truth, abundance and power. And you mention incredible possibility of living just as long as we want, or living as something you call ‘lightbody’. They are all great, but I don’t think people are ready for this. It’s going to take a long time before these things happen, like another 100 years or so.”

I just summarized some of the emails I’ve been getting. What do you think? How long do you think it will take for us to create the New World?  (Photo credit)

History tells how change happens

When we look into history, it is clear that NONE of the social changes happened when the general public was ready. Changes are initiated by only a handful of individuals. Even they don’t really know where things are going, but they get going anyway. Eventually (sometimes faster than you think) it collects momentum. By the time people notice, the change is happening already and there is no going back. Whoa.

Think of the French Revolution. Initially, people were just frustrated with high taxes and widespread poverty, and wanted to have some say in politics. So the meeting of Estates-General (something like the congress, with representatives elected by voting) was held in May 1789. Some of the representatives of this meeting, however, were brilliant — they were those handful of individuals who had a vision, at least a vision to get started.

Things developed quickly. But even when the citizens took arms and assaulted the Bastille on July 14, most people weren’t thinking of de-crowning the king, not to mention killing him. They were thinking of modified, constitutional monarchy, not the end of monarchy. The king got executed in January 1793.

Okay, that was a bloody crazy social change, with considerable backlash. Then how about the information revolution that we went through?

When Bill Gates first said, “A computer on every desktop,” people sneered. Computers in those days were huge and expensive. But he, along with some other bright people, had a vision.

Do you remember when you first got your email address? I was attending college in 1996 when they assigned email addresses to all students and faculty. Many people didn’t know what to do with it. I remember quite a few fellow students still wrote their term papers by hand and then typed them up with the computers in the library, instead of using typewriters. To connect to the internet back then, people used phone modems.

By 1999, home computers and the internet got so big it caused ridiculous stock market surge — and crash. Okay, the stock crash was sad, but the important thing here is that, by then, it was unthinkable to live without computers and internet. Did the general public foresee it in as late as mid 1990s? No.

How many people does it take to change the world?

So I know it doesn’t take so many people to start changing the world. My question has been, exactly how many does it take? 10% of the population? No, I guess much less. 5%? 1%?

Well, I came across the answer in Gregg Braden’s book The Spontaneous Healing Of Belief. He maintains the minimum number required for the change is the square root of 1% of the population. (page 48) And this is based on the power of belief, not necessarily the direct actions.

The world population is assumed to be 6.797 billion as of this writing. So 8,245 or more people can change the world.

Are there 8,245 or more lightworkers out there? I think so. We are set for a change.

It’s not going to take another 100 years. I don’t honestly know if it can be done by 2012, but I am confident it will take a lot less time than some people naively think it would.

2012

While talking about 2012, check out the three part posts Evita Ochel published recently about a conference she attended. It’s called Choice Point 2012, featuring Gregg Braden, Bruce Lipton, and Alberto Villoldo.

Just the fact this kind of conference is held says something, doesn’t it? It probably attracted a large crowd. The so-called New Age is not about a few lightheaded special people any more. There are many of us — a lot more than 8,245, I bet.

The New World I envision

The link at the beginning of this post will take you to the summary post of my Creating the New World series, but let me share my vision of the New World again.

It is a world beyond dualism. There will be nothing that is not Love and Light. When all is Love and Light, all is Truth, and the world is naturally Abundant. It is a world of peace and harmony, where we celebrate our diversity. Each soul realizes their innate Power.

Each soul can live just as long as they want in good health because dis-ease is an abnormality. Everyone is a miracle worker. In other words, we will remember our extrasensory, so-called supernatural powers.

Will there be some kind of backlash or confusion before this New World materialize? Maybe. I’m envisioning even the end of monetary system, so some disorientation and adjustment will be necessary. Overall, however, I think things will be good.

I totally agree with you Akemi, change has ALWAYS come about because of the efforts of the few, and even one person can make a difference.

Akemi this is not only beautiful, but highly inspirational and motivational too.

You speak with clarity and confidence, and that is exactly what it takes to make changes happen.

I so second all that you said….many people are still wondering the “if’s” and “when’s”, but the truth is the change is happening. Some are waking up to it, some are initiating it, and some will sleep through the whole thing. And that is all okay. We each have to live our own journey and open ourselves to what we are ready.

But indeed what you write here is that it takes much less people than most realize. And the main reason in my opinion is that the majority of the world is made up of followers…this is not a bad thing. It just means that they are very much inclined to lead their lives based on what the leaders are proposing. So we see what we see today, due to who is in power…or the so called leaders. But the tides are changing, more and more people are speaking out and creating their own “tribes” with “leaders – who are not power or greed hungry” – but simply want to show the people a better, easier, more loving way to live. And more of these tribes are merging and with it creating the beautiful, new world that you speak of.

(And thank you for the link love…it was an amazing conference, I am not sure how many people were there exactly, but these kinds of conferences are happening today with increased pace, and each time they cater to larger and larger crowds…that definitely is saying something big too.)

    Julian,
    Indeed!

    Evita,
“the majority of the world is made up of followers…this is not a bad thing.” Right, but it does put some weight on the leaders. Being a leader is so important now. Or at least choosing the right leader to follow.

Well said Akemi. Another way I like to look at this expansion of consciousness is the example of water that is very close to ‘boiling point’. For a few seconds you just get the occasional bubble bursting at the top then after a minute or so all the water is bubbling away. Exciting isn’t!

    Janni,

Great way to explain the tipping point. Thank you.

This is interesting because today I was thinking about the potential dangers of artificial intelligence. I was reading that by 2029, a normal desktop computer will surpass the processing power of the human brain. And by 2045, AI will be able to improve itself exponentially, without any assistance from humans. So then, can we be sure that the super intelligent machines will be nice to us, or will they treat us the way we treat animals?

The new world idea is an interesting view of a better future. I can hardly imagine what it would be like, but I agree that it doesn’t take a large percentage of the people to effect change.

    Hunter,

That’s interesting. But can computers have creativity? In my understanding, they are just good at processing commands fast. Someone still has to come up with an idea what to process and how. Right?

  9. Janni Lloyd on December 15th, 2009 5:07 pm

    Hi Hunter,
I feel we can relax about computers when we realise the potential of the human brain. These following stats are from ‘The brain that changes itself’ by Dr Norman Doidge – The human cortex alone has 30 billion neurons and is capable of making 1 million billion synaptic connections. Possible neural circuits 10 followed by at least a MILLION zeros – for comparison, there are an estimated 10 followed by 79 zeros particles in the known universe.

@ Akemi, whether computers can ever have creativity is a topic of hot debate in AI. For now, they certainly don’t, but is it theoretically possible? We don’t really know. Some people say it can’t happen, that it’s an inherent limitation of machines. Others say why not, just make a machine that replicates the physical structure of the human brain. I don’t know.

@ Janni, but the human advantage in that regard is what’s supposed to change in 2029. Despite certain limited things that computers can do much better, the human brain has always been far superior to computers in terms of sheer processing power. But the human brain’s potential, while almost immeasurably vast, is fixed. Meanwhile, computers double in processing power every two years, and they’ll eventually catch up.

    Hunter,

Another interesting twist on this is the possibility that our brain may be linked through the “Field” or collective consciousness. So, the individual brain may be limited, but if the brains are indeed linked, there are far more possibilities for humans. This may be what we call intuition.

This reminded me of the book The Tipping Point, did you read that? It’s more of a marketing book, and talks about what it takes for change to occur from that perspective, but sounds like Gregg Braden may have used some of the analysis from that book…it is interesting how few people it takes, in the ‘right’ places, to trigger a tidal wave of change…
Personally, I don’t think about timing, it is not my ‘thing’ you might say, I am more of a technician, as you know, and that is my role…but I hope you are right!

    Lisa,

I haven’t really read the book The Tipping Point, but I heard about it, and I hope I understand the concept. Before we hit the tipping point, things look as if there has been no change going on. But that perception is wrong. There has been a lot of changes going on, building pressure, and just one more bit can catalyze the manifestation of the whole change.

    Akemi…
Loved your vision…and, you know what…lightworkers all have the same or very similar vision. That alone should be proof positive that there is a movement happening…and its gaining tremendous momentum.
It is the advent of the Internet that has propelled this momentum foward. What used to take days, weeks or years can be done with lightning speed over the Internet. The world truly is a small place now because of the net and it has brought LightWorkers together. LightWorkers that previously had no connection with one another are finding each other online. Additionally, the Internet has brought us sites such as yours…sites full of Light and Love that AWAKEN those that land there.
It truly is an amazing time to be alive!
    Hugs….Kathy

    Hi Kathy,

Yes, I love and appreciate the internet a lot. One of the few good things that came out from military intelligence.

“I’m envisioning even the end of monetary system” …

Funny, I wrote an essay about the absurdity of the monetary system, and how it is (now) slowing evolution to a crawl. And I even started the foundation of a book developing the subject even more.

    Nice post! :D

I wrote about the non-essential nature of monetary system in my eBook, Lightworkers’ Guide to Self-Employment (free download), if you are interested more. :)
